Fingering (14 wpi; 4 ply; no 1: Super Fine) yarn such as Alize Bella in two colors about 20g or 80 yards total 

Crochet hook US C/2 (2.5 mm) or to obtain gauge 4” x 4” (10 x 10 cm) = 24 sts x 26 rows (in single crochet) – gauge not that important 

Bead for decorating

Use smaller hook to get the stiffness 

The negative ease of the headband is about an inch (3 cm), if you want it more fitted, work another inch less than indicated

The band

The band is worked flat that is after each row end you turn. 

With main yarn (white) ch 4 for all sizes. 

Row 1: (3 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) all into 4th ch from the hook, turn 

Row 2: Ch 3, sc in first dc, (3 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) all into ch space, turn 

Repeat Row 2 until the band measures 13/16/17/18/19/21” (33/41/43/46/48/53 cm) for newborn/6m/1y/3y/child/ woman sizes. 

Now join both ends: ch 1, work 1 sc in each of the 4 foundation ch and last 4 stitches of the last row.  

Cut the yarn, fasten off.  

The flower

The flower is worked flat. 

With contrast color (pink) ch 32. 

Row 1: Sc into 2nd ch from the hook, (ch 4, skip 2 ch, sc into next ch) 6 times, (ch 3, skip 1 ch, sc into next ch) 6 times, turn (You have 12 ch spaces) 

Row 2: Ch 1, (sc, ch 2, 4 hdc, ch 2, sc) in each next 6 ch space, (sc, ch 3, 6 dc, ch 3, sc) in each next 6 ch space, turn Change to main color yarn.  

Row 3: *Sl st in sc, ch 6, (sl st, 1 hdc, ch 3, 1 hdc, sl st) all between 3rd and 4th dc, ch 6, sl st in next sc* repeat from *-* for all the first 6 larger petals, *sl st in sc, ch 4, (sl st, 1 hdc, ch 3, 1 hdc, sl st) all between 2nd and 3rd dc, ch 4, sl st in next sc *, repeat from *-* for all the last 6 smaller petals. 

Fasten off with a long tail. 

Roll the flower together starting with smaller petals, fasten with few stitches and sew to the headband, decorate with a bead.
