Materials

Super Bulky (5-6 wpi; no 6: Super Bulky) yarn such as Drops Eskimo 65-85g or 75-95 yards 

Knitting needle size US 15 (10 mm) or to obtain gauge 4” x 4” (10 x 10 cm) = 10 stitches x 14 rows (in stockinette stitch)

The hat is worked flat 

This is a slouch hat, fold it in double cuff if you want it more fitted 

The negative ease of the hat is about 2.5” (6 cm)            

The hat

Cast on 36/40/44/48/52 stitches (6m/1y/3y/child/woman/man): 

Row 1 (right side): *purl 2, knit 2*, repeat from *-* all across 

Row 2 (wrong side): work each stitch as it faces to you that is knit the knit stitches and purl the purl stitches  

Repeat Rows 1-2, three times more. 

Row 9: *purl 2, knit 1, knit in front and back of stitch*, repeat from *-* all across 

Row 10: work each stitch as it faces to you 

Row 11: *purl 2, knit 3*, repeat from *-* all across 

Row 12: work each stitch as it faces to you 

Repeat Rows 11-12 until the hat measures 6/7/7.5/8/9/9.5” (16/18/19/20/23/24 cm) from the cast on row. Then start decreasing: 

Decrease Row 1 (RS): *purl 2 stitches together, knit 3*, repeat from *-* all across 

Decrease Row 2 (WS): work each stitch as it faces to you 

Decrease Row 3: *purl 1, knit 3*, repeat from *-* all across 

Decrease Row 4: work each stitch as it faces to you 

Decrease Row 5: *knit 2 stitches together, knit 2*, repeat from *-* all across 

Decrease Row 6: purl all stitches 

Decrease Row 7: *knit 2 stitches together*, repeat from *-* all across 

Cut the yarn, pull it through the remaining stitches and sew the hat together (preferably with mattress stitch).  

Weave in all ends. 

Decorate the hat with a button.
